About the Role

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing the effective planning, sourcing, movement and availability of resources and materials required by the company. The Supply Chain Manager will work closely with departments and key stakeholders to establish and maintain an effective supply chain, ensuring that materials are available in the required quantities and at the right time, while improving efficiency, cost effectiveness, and supplier performance.

Key Responsibilities & Performance Indicators

Strategic Planning

  • Collaborate with departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain the resources required to establish and provide an effective supply chain.
  • Develop the annual procurement plan to support the annual budgeting process.

Sourcing

  • Design and execute long-term supply chain strategies.
  • Identify, select, and vet reliable suppliers.
  • Negotiate cost-effective supplier contracts and pricing terms.
  • Identify and qualify new suppliers in collaboration with other departments.
  • Negotiate supplier prices and payment terms in support of the company’s working capital management policies.

Operations & Inventory Management

  • Cost per tonne moved (GHS or USD/t)
  • Fuel consumption per tonne (litres/t)
  • Budget variance (%)
  • Preventive vs unplanned maintenance ratio (%)

Logistics & Distribution Coordination

  • Manage third-party freight forwarding contractors and warehouse operations to ensure timely and damage-free delivery of goods.
  • Identify optimal shipment and transportation routes.
  • Make recommendations to ensure efficient loading, unloading, movement and storage of materials.

Data Analytics & Performance Tracking

  • Track key metrics such as Order Cycle Time, Utilization Rate and Vendor Performance to drive continuous improvement.
  • Establish performance metrics for the measurement, comparison and evaluation of factors affecting the supply chain.
  • Monitor supplier performance by assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements.

Leadership

  • Develop policies aimed at increasing efficiency throughout the supply chain and implement improvements to processes where required.
  • Identify supply chain bottlenecks, market fluctuations and vulnerabilities.
  • Develop robust contingency plans to mitigate supply chain risks and disruptions.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • On-Time In-Full (OTIF) Delivery Rate
  • Order Cycle Time
  • Cost Efficiency
  • Inventory Turnover Ratio
  • Transport Cost per Unit
  • Perfect Order Rate

Ideal Profile

The ideal candidate is an experienced Supply Chain professional with strong capabilities in strategic planning, sourcing, supplier management, inventory management, logistics coordination, data analysis, and team leadership. The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to optimize supply chain performance, maintain reliable supplier relationships, control inventory levels, improve operational efficiency and proactively identify supply chain risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree will be an advantage.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Supply Chain, including at least 4 years of experience in a managerial position.
  • Certification as a Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Theory of Constraints (TOC), Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
